Billie Melissa delivered a guest lecture on my first year undergraduate module, Communications Challenges, wherein she spoke about how documentary film-making can be an essential form of activism. In another session, Billie delivered a Masterclass to undergraduate student across year groups. In both the lecture and Masterclass, Billie was engaging and passionate - many of my students contacted me afterwards to say that she had inspired them to think differently about death row and the American criminal justice system. In the Masterclass, we were lucky enough to speak to Billie Allen - the subject of the documentary - which was an incredibly enlightening and insightful experience for the students. Billie is clearly extremely hard-working and this shows in the quality of her work.
